REGISTRATION
PAPERS
Proof
of registry with the American Paint Horse Association must be shown to the show
secretary on each horse prior to entering a class.
2.
AS OF JANUARY 1, 2008 EVERY EXHIBITOR MUST HAVE AN APHA
MEMBERSHIP. THE SHOW SECRETARY MUST SEE THE MEMBERSHIP CARD
AT EACH SHOW.
3.
COGGINS TEST
The
STPHC show secretary must verify a negative Coggins before a horse is allowed to
enter and show in any class. The
test must be current within 12 months in accordance with the Texas State Law.

4.
IDENTIFICATION
Amateur/Novice
Amateur and Novice Youth exhibitors must present their current APHA
identification card to the show secretary for verification when entering a class
or purchase a temporary card.
5.
MEMBERSHIP
Each
Family (this includes husband, wife, and unmarried children 18 years old and
younger) or all owners of a ranch or firm will pay an Annual Fee of $20.00.
If membership is listed in the name of a ranch or firm.
This membership is for the awarding year; year-end points, and must
follow APHA rules of ownership for the awarding of YOUTH, AMATEUR, and NOVICE
AMATEUR POINTS.
Open Category, the owner of the horse must be a member in order for the
horse to receive Year-End Awards.
6.
OWNERSHIP
Owner
listed on original registration Certificate must be a current club member to
qualify for year end awards.
7.
ENTRY FORMS
Must
use official entry forms available at each show or by contacting show secretary
in advance for a form.

8.
YEAR END AWARD QUALIFICATIONS
Awards
will be given depending on the financial status of the Club as determined by the
Board of Directors.
STPHC has the right to combine or split age groups with less than a point
class.
To
qualify for year end awards, the horse’s owner (or representative) must
work two (2) hours at STPHC sponsored shows or
acquire a class sponsorship fee of $100 by no later than October 19, 2008, the
first day of the
Margarita Classic.
If
an individual works for someone, the STPHC member’s name must be designated on
the sign-up sheet; i.e., Jane Doe working for Tommy Tune – 2:00 to 4:00 for 2
hours. The
sign-up sheet will be available at the entry desk at each STPHC sponsored
show.
Work
hours for Year End Qualifications will be accumulated at STPHC Sponsored
(S) Shows only.
A.
YOUTH CLASS DIVISION
Youth
class divisions are based on the exhibitor’s age as of January 1st
of the calendar show year.
Youth lead line is for exhibitors who are aged three (3) thru eight (8)
as of January 1st, and must be lead by an adult 18 or older.
Youth walk-trot is for the exhibitors who are age five (5) through nine
(9) as of January 1st.
The 13 & Under class is for the Youth exhibitors who are thirteen
(13) or younger as of January 1st, and 14 thru 18 denotes classes for
youth exhibitors who are age 14 thru 18 as of January 1st.
B.
OPEN AWARDS
To
be eligible for all STPHC “Open” Year-End Awards, the owner of the horse
must be a current STPHC member in good standing at
the time the points are earned.
C.
YOUTH AND AMATEUR AWARDS
To
be eligible for Youth, Novice Youth, Amateur, and Novice Amateur (Individual
Class) Year-End Awards, the Youth, Amateur or Novice Amateur exhibitor must be
member of STPHC at the time the points are won.
For a Class to be ACTIVE,
it must meet the following criteria:
a.
Show under the appropriate number of judges, six (6) out of eight (8)
judges at sponsored shows.
To be Eligible for individual CLASS
AWARDS:
a.
You must show in the same class as STPHC sponsored shows or
approved shows and show under the appropriate number of judges, six (6) out of
eight (8) sponsored shows; and
b.
You must be a member in good standings with STPHC at the time the points
were earned.
To be eligible for YEAR-END
HIGH POINT AWARDS:
a.
You must show in at least three (3) APHA approved performance events
including Halter to qualify for Year-End High Points;
b.
YOU MUST SHOW AT ONE TWO (2) JUDGE SHOW (SAN ANTONIO LSR OR SEGUIN
SHOW IN JULY) AND THE MARGARITA;
c.
You must show under the appropriate number of judges, six (6) out of
eight (8) sponsored shows; and
d.
You must be a member in good standing with STPHC at the time the points
were earned.
*EXCEPTION:
Classes not offered at the 2 judge Sponsored Shows must meet an 8 judge,
10 point minimum for Champion and 8 point minimum for Reserve.

EXCEPTION: Weanling
Halter (S/M/G), Yearling Longe Line, Two Yr Old Western Pleasure, Two Yr Old
Hunter Under Saddle, must only meet the 6 point for Champion & 4 point for
Reserve minimum.

A WALK TROT EXHIBITOR ENTERS A HALTER CLASS, POINTS WILL COUNT TOWARD HIGH
POINT. A
WALK-TROT EXHIBITOR MAY NOT SHOW IN A LOPING CLASS ON ANY HORSE.

POINTS:

Grand
Champion at halter will receive two (2) points and Reserve Grand Champion will
receive one (1) point.
Ties will be broken by using the horse who has won the most first places,
second places, etc, (if applicable), and if the horses are still tied,
thereafter, then by the flip of a coin.
All
points will be tallied on each horse/rider team separately, excluding Lead Line.
Points
in Lead Line will be kept on the rider only.
The horse is not required to be owned by the Lead Line contestant’s
family.
If
an Amateur Stallion is gelded during the show year, he will not carry over
points or qualifications to the Amateur gelding category; therefore, he would
have to re-qualify to be eligible for an Amateur Gelding Year-End Award.
However,
entries that have been disqualified by a Judge in accordance with APHA Rule Book
will not receive any STPHC points, but will receive credit for attending show
towards year-end qualifications.
10.
SHOWS
Definition
of “Show-Judge”; i.e., if a show has two (2) judges, it is considered that
you have shown under two (2) of the eight (8) judges of the STPHC sponsored
shows.
i.
Only South Texas Paint Horse Club sponsored and approved shows will count
for Year-End Awards.
ii.
Must show under six (6) of the eight (8) judges at STPHC Sponsored Shows.
Approved show points will count for Year-End Awards, but are not
mandatory, and do not count toward any of the six (6) judges.
*EXCEPTION:
Classes not offered at the 2 judge Sponsored Shows must meet a 4 judge,
6 point minimum for Champion and 4 point minimum for Reserve.
11.
WEALINGS AT HALTER,
LONGE LINE, AND TWO (2) YEAR OLD WESTERN PLEASURE
Classes
will not be offered prior to May 1st.
12.
EQUINE CARE
Show
management will not tolerate any abusive behavior directed against any horse as
excessive spurring, whipping or jerking on a bit (in warm-up arena or elsewhere
on the show grounds) or the withholding of food or water.
Show management shall expel and remove any exhibitor or spectator that
mistreats a horse in such a way as to cause blood to flow from the horse’s
mouth from an abusive bit or from the horse’s side from sharp spurs.
Any an all repeat offenders will be suspended from showing in all STPHC
Sponsored Shows for a period of not less than six (6) months, or until such time
as the suspension is lifted by the consensus of the Board of Directors.

13.
CONDUCT
Show
management shall expel and cause to be removed from the show grounds, any
member, exhibitor or spectator who verbally abuses an APHA approved judge that
is currently judging a STPHC qualifying show, or STPHC horse show secretary or
any member of the show staff. Any
and all repeat offenders will be suspended from showing in ALL STPHC Sponsored
Shows.
